Glebe Cottage

view

Probably the oldest detached cottage in the village of Ripponden, set in the Pennines, equidistant between Leeds and Manchester. Located in the heart of the Industrial Revolution where the Victorian boom in textiles powered the British Empire, old weaving villages abound in the hills nearby, together with Grade 1 listed buildings and National Trust properties – all set in picturesque countryside. In recent times the quaint village has become famous in culinary circles, boasting award-winning restaurants and country pubs serving outstanding food and a huge variety of local traditional ales. The Old Bridge Inn - literally just down the road adjacent to the original pack-horse bridge is Yorkshires oldest hostelry, dating back to the thirteenth century.
